Textio (a writing platform used to help employers craft the best possible job listings) analyzed 50 million job listings in hopes of learning how pink collared jobs (or more “feminine” jobs) were described compared to masculine jobs. Indeed, traditional pink collared jobs (e.g., health care workers) contained more feminine words (e.g., care, families) in their job listings, whereas masculine job postings contained masculine words such as manage and superior. Inadvertently, these small shifts in language may influence the likelihood of men and women applying to certain jobs.
