Although, I have been a runner for as long as I can remember I’ve never given the health benefits much thought. Sure, it makes you feel good, helps your heart stay healthy, and will let you eat that extra slice of pizza guilt free. But, it may also help protect our memories when we experience stressful events. Experimenters recently found that rats under chronic stress that ran compared to rats under chronic stress that didn’t run remember more. That is, running seems to help protect our brains from memory loss due to chronic stress. To learn more, check out the study here.
